KEN NISBET

Banishment and Transportation

The talk looks at how both banishment and transportation were used by the crown and government to remove people from Scotland and why.

What happened to people when they reached their destination and what records are available to research them such as court records in Scotland and convict records in Australia?

Ken will also explain why transportation ceased to be used as a punishment.
